On Friday 23 October 2026, the Young and Early Career Scholars (YES!) network of the IGU Commission on Gender and Geography will hold its first conference online. Eight early career researchers will share new work from across the globe. Registration is open until 16 October.

The conference grew out of a lively response from the network's members. It brings together emerging voices in feminist geography whose research spans from Oceania to the Latin American and Caribbean region. The papers explore care, belonging, embodiment and spatial justice, and how gender shapes everyday life in cities, workplaces, borders and communities.

Because speakers and participants are spread across many time zones, the programme runs in two sessions with a break in between. Each session features four papers followed by a panel discussion with the audience. Check the final programme below:

How to attend

The conference is online and open to everyone interested in feminist geographies, from students to established scholars. Participants should register by 16 October 2026 through the registration form. The meeting link will be sent to registered participants ahead of the event.

YES! (Young and Early Career Scholars) is an initiative of the IGU Commission on Gender and Geography, connecting early career feminist geographers worldwide.
