The YES! Steering Committee is excited to share the launch - and recording - of new episodes of YES! Loud and Clear, our podcast dedicated to conversations in feminist geographies. This achievement feels especially meaningful because it is rooted in something that often sustains academic and activist work but is not always visible: network, care, and generosity. These episodes are shaped by the incredible mentors and colleagues connected to the Commission on Gender and Geography of the International Geographical Union (IGU).
In 2025, we have launched interviews recorded a few years ago with Prof. Dr. Lynda Johnston (Aotearoa New Zealand) and Prof. Dr. Anindita Datta (India). And in 2026, as we continue the season interviewing our role models, you can expect some novelties. We have been working to share interviews in multiple languages, highlighting our commitment to decolonise academic thought and foster diversity. In January, our community will be able to hear the inspiring trajectory of Prof. Dr. Joseli Silva (Brazil) - current chair of the Gender and Geography Commission - in Brazilian Portuguese!
The importance of these senior feminist geographers to our field goes far beyond formal supervision. It shows up as consistent encouragement and a commitment to the feminist values that they advocate for. Feminist geographies remind us that knowledge is never produced alone, and this podcast is a living example of that principle.
YES! Loud and Clear is this virtual space and non-linear time where voices, aspirations and hope meet across generations and geographies, literally. I might personally say that it felt a pleasure to become involved in this initiative, together with Elisabeth Militz - continuing the thoughtful work and legacy of Angelina de Dios, and our previous co-chairs. We hope these new episodes carry forward the generosity we have received, and inspire many emerging scholars to leave their contribution to our field.
If you would like to be involved in the production of the podcast, or have suggestions of people who we could interview, flick us a message! We will be glad to hear from you :) Enjoy listening to it and stay tuned for further episodes!
